About Us

mun mom was started in 2026 by a mom who, after having her first baby, found herself without the village she had heard so much about before and during pregnancy. Living a plane-ride away from family and having moved to a new neighborhood far from friends, she quickly became overwhelmed and isolated during the most important period in any mom's life. The loneliness and mental load caused serious damage to her health, which took years to recover from. When she finally found a better path forward, she realized how common this experience is for mothers in today's world and vowed to do something to change it.

Mom & Founder, mun mom LLC

The name mun mom (pronounced moon mom) was inspired the countless nights she spent rocking her crying baby in her arms by the window, under the light of the midnight moon. One comforting thought in those twilight hours was the realization that so many other moms were awake, staring at the same moon, comforting their own children. In many cultures, the moon represents women, femininity, and motherhood. In Chinese culture, it is common practice for postpartum mothers to spend the first month in bed (坐月子 zuo yuezi) and be cared for as they recover. The word for month and moon is the same in Chinese, and 母 (mu) in Chinese means mother.
